The cameras started rolling in Boonah, South East Queensland, on August 17th and will continue until October 21st 2009. Then we’re off to Paris to do all the editing, with a final release planned in the second half of 2010.
The film – which we’ve lazily nicknamed The Tree (aka L’Arbre) – stars Charlotte Gainsbourg (recent winner at Cannes Film festival), Marton Csokas and Aden Young. It’s being directed by Julie Bertuccelli (also a past winner at Cannes) and produced by Taylor Media and Les Films Du Poisson.
Based on the book Our Father Who Art In The Tree, it’s the story of a young girl who believes her late father whispers to her through the leaves of her favourite tree and the impact this has on her relationship with friends and family, especially her mother. It’s sometimes sad, sometimes funny, but ultimately joyful and life affirming.
The film is a co-production between France and Australia and has the backing of both state and federal governments through Screen Australia and the Pacific Film and Television Corporation.
